Those Who Sow the Seeds of Destruction Shall Reap the Whirlwind

For over a decade the Muslim states of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq have been actively supporting the fundamentalist movements. So long as their targets were in the West, they were heralded as "resistence fighters". Now the chickens have come home to roost. The twin bombings in Basra and Riyadh are the work of these same "resistance fighters", who aim to topple the current governments. In Pakistan there have been numerous assasination attempts against President Mussharif, as well as numerous bombing attacks against various religious groups.

In Iraq, Saddam and his Baathist party have given sanctuary to various Islamic militants and monetarily supported Hamas suicide bombers. If Israel had not bombed Iraq's nuclear reactor years ago, they might have had an atomic bomb by now. Pakistan has supported al_Queda and the Taliban for years. Even today there are still elements of support for them in the tribal areas of the north-west and amongst some in the Pakistani intelligence service. In the case of Saudi Arabia, the princes have funnelled hundreds of millions to numerous terrorist groups, partly because their own brand of Islam is fanatical, and partly because it was a pay-off to al-Queda to leave them alone. It was not a coincidence that 15 of the 19 September 11 suicide bombers were Saudis. In fact, there were direct links of support to some of them from the Saudi royal family. Jordan is a case of past support for the PLO and other terrorist groups. It gave santuary to Carlos the Jackel--one of the most heinous mass murderers in the 1970's and 80's. However, King Hussein realized the slippery slope this entailed and cut off support. That is why the Islamists have targeted his regime. A foiled attack on government installations and various foreign targets would have been simply catastrophic. Besides bombs where was a chemical component was involved would have killed up to 20,000.

We can only hope that the latest attacks on these countries will shake them up and help them join a coalition of those seriously fighting back. You cannot appease fanatics, who believe that democracy must be smashed, in order for an Orwellian theocracy to rise from the rubble.

Phil Fontaine--"The Ultimate Power Pow-wow"

Phil Fontaine doesn't want much, just full control over the budget of the Aboriginals, while answering to no government agency. Integration into the Canadian society is a non-starter as far as he is concerned. "It has proven to be a failure," he said. There was even talk of setting up Native universities--to facilitate the unique native perspective--whatever that means. Already, reports have shown that the native run school systems are grossly deficient, so what their graduates would do in a university setting that is merely an extension of that system is problematic at best. Oh, did I mention that Fontaine doesn't want the hundreds of millions in land claim settlements to be included in the final accounting of tax dollars given out. In fact, he wants the $10 billion allotment beefed up to help the burgeoning native birthrate. At a time when the overall Canadian birth rate has declined 25% over the last decade, that is what I call poor timing. In short, who is going to pay for this largesse? The average Canadian is already fearful of reduced old age pensions and the increases for health care in an aging population. Now, Paul Martin has started talking about the Metis nation and their needs. Mercy.

Bill Graham--"Statesman"

Ah, the soft power man was at his best when he proclaimed, "Canada condemns today's attacks, [on Rantisi] which can only impede progress towards a peaceful solution to the complex conflict in the Middle East." This is a statement right up there with Neville Chamberlain's "We will have peace in our time". But of course Hitler was not to be appeased with Chamberlain's acceptance of his invasion of Czechoslovakia, nor would leaving Rantisi in control have appeased Hamas and the other Palestinian terrorist organizations. Graham falls into the category that the old commies called their western apologists--a useful fool.

The UN--"Answer to World Peace"

While the full reason for the shootout between the Americans and the Jordanian peacekeepers in Kosovo remains a bit fuzzy, the facts point to five Jordanian policemen ambushing an American convoy outside a detention center. Two American females were killed and one Jordanian, while four of the ten wounded (all Americans, except one Austrian) were in serious condition. The four surviving Jordanian attackers are under arrest.

Almost as disturbing as the apparently senseless ambush is the lack of news reporting on the incident. It didn't show up as a news report on either of CBC's or BBC's Sunday reports (except on the news crawl). Now, I realize that both these news organizations blindly accept that only the UN can bring peace and joy to the world, but to ignore such an unprecedented event is mind-boggling. I guess they hope that like the proverbial tree that falls in the forest, if nobody sees or hears it, then it didn't exist.

Paul Martin--"Finally the Smoking Gun is Found"

The politicians and ****** ad men have kept a mafiaesque code of silence during the sponsorgate probe. Every attempt to tie Martin to these scandals has been deflected by lies or stonewalling. But the opposition (bless the BQ for once) have uncovered an exchange between Warren Kinsella and Chuck Guite. Warren, who was an alpha Liberal insider, asked Guite how Earnscliffe could have garnered some contracts, especially when the regular channels for granting the contracts had been sidestepped. Guite writes back that "The guidelines were rather vague and the incumbants had been picked by previously agreed on criteria". So much for Martin's "open competitions." All Martin could do in response when Marty Solberg hit him with the memo was to sputter, "This line of questioning is making a mockery of Parliament." No, Paul, you and your corrupt political buddies are making a mockery of Parliament. I can only hope that all the news organizations pick up on this story. That memo dated back to 1994/5. Today Martin has appointed that same bunch of Earnscliffe lobbyists to be in his inner circle of advisors. It will be interesting to see how Guite handles that 1994 memo when he appears at the probe on Thursday. "I don't remember it", simply will not pass muster.

The Seal Hunt--a Small Perspective Ignored

According to Boris Johnson of The London Daily Telegraph, the various news agencies of England that gasp in horror at the seal hunt fail to understand the truth. From the estimated 6,000,000 seals the cull is miniscule, and remember that one adult seal can eat 1.6 tons of fish a year. There are only 50,000 tons of cod left off Newfoundland. He goes on to mention that 200,000 babies are aborted in England annually, along with 1.5 million cows and 12,500,000 million sheep (they're cute too). The next time you lust after some codcakes think of who is getting to eat them, rather than you.

The Witnesses in the Sponsorship Probe--"weasel words redefined"

"I don't remember" is the court of last resort, when all the other bafflegab doesn't work. Monday on CBC we had Group Everest's Mr. Boulay contradicting Pierre Tremblay's testimony. Two of the three key "management" witnesses that were supposed to show up didn't. Whether Chuck Guite is finally going to show up on Thursday, if he can leave his Arizona vacation was up in the air. [He did.] In the U.S. if they didn't show up for such a committee meeting they would be held in contempt. As if these problems were not bad enough, Paul Martin has stacked the committee with obstructing Liberal members. Every time the questioning got too close to the truth, the Liberals would accuse the opposition members of posing vague questions, or barring that, start bringing in "points of order" to run out the clock on the questioning. The entire inquiry is turned into a farce. Martin's promise to "get to the bottom of this scandal" is the height of mendaciousness. Pardon my French but that promise is pure b*******.

Svend Robinson--"victim"

Robinson's tissue of lies is shredding rather quickly. His crime was not the momentary impulse that he suggests; rather it appears to have been a calculated act of thievery. His "pocketing" of the ring was preceded by his desire to buy a an expensive engagement ring for his male lover just days before. He told the jeweller that he had to check his bank account to see if he could come up with the $10,000 needed for a particular design. The answer must have been no, so he stole a ring estimated to be worth $50,000. Small wonder during his three-hanky press conference he didn't want to field any questions. Also, the RCMP were shown videotapes of his crime days before the "confession". The stress he alluded to had nothing to do with his work load, or his six year old fall, but rather with not being able to pay for a ring worthy of his love. If he gets away with this then the law will be further damaged. If the bleeding hearts want to comfort him in his "stress", let them do it on visiting day at the pen.
