Bud: PM 'Not' Playing Games, Immigration: Joe Volpe's Whopper, Bloggers Unite & Lose UN Chains

Note: do not miss this post today.

Updated: Gang Sting: 58 Arrests & 287 Charges -&- Links NJC

Paul Martin--"I don't play games."

Well, your days are probably severely numbered, Paul, but you still have enough time left to play games. Your comment: "Let the opposition force you out into the raging blizzard to vote", is so Martin.

You could have said, "All right, you have me cornered; but I want to pass some legislation, which I have called 'crucial' ". I might try to sneak in some of this gravy before being defeated. Maybe buy the aboriginal vote, along with those so necessary immigrant votes. So I will accede to your demands for a January dissolution of Parliament." You could have done that, except you were so afraid of losing that you hoped the "blizzard scenario" would sufficiently resonate in the electorate's mind. Along, of course, with Santa Goodale's $30 billion give-away. Maybe you can squeak out another minority government and the toady NDP will suddenly be on board again. "What other hope have they?", must be in Martin's realistic thoughts.

Once upon a time we were a self-sufficient nation, whose citizens would travel hundreds of miles by canoe to trap beaver in a blizzard, but now we can't spend 30 minutes voting for a decent government? Besides, that $30 billion that Ralph Goodale has to lavish on Liberal re-election is still theoretically in the till. Perhaps the Conservatives have some ideas of how to better spend it.

And by gee by golly, there is this huge, huge surplus that Goodale has suddenly discovered. Enough to pave every pothole in Canada. And now, the only question is: Do you want yours to one of them? It doesn't help your cause if you start talking about the scandalous expropriation of the unemployment insurance program. For years, this fund has been used as a slush fund for whatever pet project the Liberals think is advantagous for re-election. Let the recipient beware. I will leave the last word on this to columnist Don Martin. In his National Post, (Tues. 15, A-6) column, he weighed the gamesmanship of the Opposition and the Liberals. Basically, he saw the Liberals snookering their enemies with this something-for-everybody mini-budget. However he concluded with these sage lines.

The Plan for Growth and Prosperity was aptly named by the finance minister--it's a Liberal scheme to fool voters into delivering seat growth and electoral prosperity.

Immigration: Joe Volpe's big Whopper

[Bud had written the L-word. Tut, tut, Bud. Should I call it Joe Volpe's big Misspoke? Misspeak? I think we're not supposed to use a pol's name and the L-word in the same sentence. NJC ]

When the Fraser Institute published a study, which showed that the immigrants of the last few (Liberal) decades were economically falling behind the average Canadian, Volpe launched an hysterical attack on its findings. He blatantly misspoke himself about studies his own department had done, which showed the same criticism. Volpe claimed that they showed immigrants catching up or surpassing the average Canadian after five years. The Toronto Star, generally left-wing and pro-immigrant, agreed with the Fraser Institute's numbers. Using the Immigration department's own stats, it concluded that the average was after ten years and large numbers never caught up. Common sense should tell us that "the family reunification program" was doomed to increase the poverty level. You can't bring in aging parents and even ill-educated siblings and expect otherwise.

The Star's James Travis wrote:

"To bring people here with empty promises is cruel. Canada needs new immigrants but they must be able to contribute more than keeping wages low and re-electing Liberals."

The entire re-unification program was simply a sop to the immigrant communities [for votes NJC]. Years ago it was revealed that too many immigrant sponsors were reneging on their promise of five years of relative support. Statistics from two years ago revealed that $800 million a year had to be spent by the government to support these indigents. That doesn't take into account the millions more spent to cure Granny of her ailments. To hide this shamefull fact, the government didn't push the sponsors. A billion dollar boondoggle that is ripe for exposing. The liberal media also have kept a conspiracy of silence about this fraud. In an already aged population do we need more citizens, who will produce nothing for the state, but will demand numerous health and welfare services? The hard-working immigrants I know are as incensed as I am about this travesty of justice.

That Volpe would fudge the statistics to gain the immigrant vote is classic dirty politics. For the investigative media to ignore the reality is despicable. The degrees to which this Liberal government will descend, in order to get re-elected, is near treasonous.

Has the Immigration Department learned nothing from the experience of the French rioting? When a country has a critical mass of unemployed immigrants, who are multiculted enough to believe that their regressive attitudes should trump normal Candian ones, then you have the tipping point to future alienation and unrest. Whether the cult of diversity here will produce the anarchy seen in the French immigrant slums remains to be seen. However flooding our cities with unemployable youth and the aged can only be seen as foolhardy.

The French never thought that they would see the naked hatred expressed by the Muslim slum dwellers. Nor did they believe that they would consider an average of 97 car burnings [ one day this week ] to be the past year's daily norm. The recent conflagration is only the ground fire of decades, suddenly getting oxygen from the accidental deaths of two kids. That flimsy excuse for rioting can easily be reproduced. As one French Minister admitted, "These slums are basically no-go areas, where gangs control the action. Even before the riots, the police would go in only in platoons, as they were often assaulted. Not only is Paris burning, it will continue burning far into the future.

Toronto already has areas which are gang-controlled. Decent citizens are totally intimidated, and most crimes go unreported. Witnesses remain mute out of fear of retaliation. Can we afford Joe Volpe's plan for more immigrants annually? Especially if most are from the family re-unification category -- obviously, not limited to the elderly. The Liberals however think that their "diversity is grand" propaganda has sunk in with the young. They hope that our youth's "whatever" mentality and the sacred cow status of cultural equality will carry the day. Despite being called "racist", the Conservative Party must address this issue. In the long run this issue, if not confronted intelligently, will come to define all others.

Bloggers unite! You have nothing to lose but your UN chains

As was to be expected, a large block of UN dictatorships wants to control the internet. Their meeting to discuss control of the worldwide information highway was held in Tunisia. How appropriate. Tunisia is on every human rights watch as a country that censors the internet and arrests opponents to their regime. The socialist-left states and their allies, the pure thug states, trot out the same old demands -- "We must end cultural hegemony", "respect for divergent cultural and gender attitudes", and the "rich/poor divide". Underneath this rhetoric is the desire to completely control the internet and crush any democratic or moralistic "invasion of ideas". Carried to its extreme, you have a North Korea, where people even caught with a short-wave radio can be imprisoned. The absolutely mindless dedication to a crumbling Orwellian state can only come with complete control of all sources of information. What you get from this control is the spectacle of starving, freezing citizens filling enormous stadiums singing the praises of their oppressor--a man who sees himself as the font of all security and succour.

Happily, Canada and the reluctant European delegates staunched the attempt to wrest control from the Americans. The Americans have not been trying to censor the internet through the Internet Corporation for the Assigned Names (ICANN). They have controlled this function [which is a technical ability, I think NJC], for a decade with no complaints. If the UN thug states got to control ICANN, there wouldn't be any complaints either. However that would be because they would have managed to stifle any method of their citizens to complain. It was refreshing to see the Liberals stop their genuflecting to the world's tyrannies.

© Bud Talkinghorn

Note: I think I read somewhere that this backing of the freedom of the internet and continuing with ICAAN is only for a period of time, Bud--perhaps until the planets align after an election and the right people get elected--and the bowing to the superior ethical and democratic norms of the UN thug states may be accomplished more easily. Update 1:

Immigrant youth need to keep ethnicity: study Mike Oliveira, Toronto Sun, Nov. 16, 05

TORONTO (CP) - Countries hoping to integrate newcomers are better off embracing a Canadian-style cultural mosaic rather than a melting-pot style of immigration policy, suggests a new study on immigrant youth.

The study, based on more than 5,000 interviews conducted over 10 years, looked at 13 countries and the experiences of their young immigrants.

The ideal situation is for young immigrants to be proud of both their ethnic culture and new country, and to avoid ignoring either, said researcher Prof. John Berry of Queen's University in Kingston, Ont. [. . . . ]

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage but the criminal gang activity which has now moved into encompassing several heritages is another kettle of fish. Every time I hear the victimology industry gang cry lack of sensitivity and racism, I think of the gangs.

Have Canadians been remiss in the understanding department -- in the maintain your culture--the one you came in with--multicultural area? Was it because those who brought down the Air India plane bombing so many Canadians into oblivion were misunderstood? Did they suffer racism? Couldn't get a job because of systemic . . . whatever? Or did they bring their hatreds with them?

Is the gang violence in the Toronto area related lack of sensitivity -- to Canadians' dissing some ethnic group or is their criminal gang activity an expression of pride in their ethnicity? Or is it related to the reality that individuals--even with few credentials--belonging to criminal drug / money laundering gangs make more money than they would with their qualifications in legitimate enterprise and that they make more than their fellows with similar qualifications? . . . Would it be the case that the successful criminal gang members make more $$$ than most ordinary Canadians--at least those at the lower end of the economic scale? So, therefore, crime pays.

Over $600,000 stolen from education account without interference from government

OTTAWA– Official Opposition Indian and Northern Affairs Critic Jim Prentice said that over $600,000 has been stolen from the Keeseecoose First Nation’s education account, but the Liberal government refuses to produce a forensic audit on the matter.

Keeseecoose is a small First Nations community in Saskatchewan. In the time between 1995 and 2001, over $600,000 was systematically looted from their school account, draining the community’s education funds. [. . . . ]

Despite Minister Scott’s refusal to answer the question, Prentice continued to press the government over its inability to produce a forensic audit, noting the RCMP and the Department of Indian Affairs had been notified in 2002 of financial irregularities on the reserve’s education account. Highlights

Poll: "public believe that public safety is a priority issue. Increasing fear of crime, inadequate funding for police services and a lax court and parole system" (Toronto, ON) – Nov. 15, 05

The Police Association of Ontario (PAO), representing over 30,000 front-line police personnel, commissioned a public opinion poll conducted by Innovative Research Group. [. . . . ]

The complete poll is available on the PAO web site at www.pao.on.ca under Media Releases. Some of the highlights include:

* Over half (51%) of Ontarians expect that they or a family member will have property stolen as a result of a break-in within the next five years.

* More Ontario residents than a year and one-half ago feel they or a family member will be physically attacked in the next five years, up 6 points to 32%.

* An overwhelming majority (80%) say that gun violence has worsened in the past five years.

* Four-out-of-five (81%) Ontarians continue to believe that funding for police services is one area that should not be cut back despite budget deficits.

* In fact, a clear majority (58%) of Ontarians believe that municipal governments should increase funding for police services.

* A decisive 93% of those polled agree that Canadian laws and eligibility for parole should be toughened to make persons convicted of crimes of violence and gun crimes more accountable for their actions.

PAO Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Miller added, “The poll results are consistent with what our members from across the province will be saying when they meet with their MPP’s today. Violent crime is a problem and the best way to combat it is to ensure that police have the proper resources they need including provisions that ensure that violent offenders are dealt with harshly by the courts”.

$39-billion in tax cuts and spending [. . . . ]

"It's about people living fulfilling lives, the kinds of retirements we can expect to enjoy and the opportunities our children will have." [Quoting Goodale]

That will be how the Liberals will want this to be seen. However, everyone who has followed the recent career of perhaps the slipperiest politician ever born will see it as a bit of a political bomb for the tri-party coalition. The Liberals have no love of tax cuts, but they don't inten [sic] on seeing them through anyway. These proposals merely act as an election issue for the time after the Tory/BQ/NDP no-confidence motion topples the government. [. . . . ]

Media Advisory - Trial to begin on government's $30B plunder of federal public service pension surplus quote.com Nov. 14, 05

OTTAWA, Nov. 14 /CNW Telbec/ - The litigation trial involving the federal government's $30.2-billion expropriation of the federal public service pension surplus will begin tomorrow. The lawsuit is the most significant case of its kind in Canadian history. [. . . . ]

A copy of the Statement of Claim [. . . . ]

1. By 1999, the pension plans of federal public sector workers (public service, RCMP and Canadian Forces employees), had accumulated a combined surplus of $30.2 billion.

3. On September 14, 1999, Parliament passed the Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act (Bill C-78), which introduced amendments to the laws covering the three pension plans, allowing the federal government to grab the $30.2-billion surplus. The federal government is exempted from the Pension Benefits Standards Act, which limits employer access to any surplus in federally registered pension plans.

I guess in a sense Nicholas and I (we both having escaped together in '49) were sort of lucky in that we were a minority in our native country, but when we were born, Czechoslovakia was a well working democracy with reasonable individual freedoms, albeit not to the extent of those in Canada and the US. From there it went downhill: rightist Slovakia, then leftist Czechoslovakia, then leftist Slovakia, all he while changing from German to Hungarian to Slovak schools, so we had ample practice in adaptations; therefore, from day one after arrival in Canada, we avoided any Hungarian, Slovak, or German clubs and made a point to have contacts mainly with Canadians; in fact Nick and I even started right away to converse in English -- in spite of the fact that we barely knew a few words of it. We started to read English books with the dictionary in one hand (I started with The Razor's Edge-and don't remember a word from it) - and all that obviously paid off. Riots in France--a Reality Check

A little known fact is that the burning of cars has been a long-standing "sport" for the Arab and African slum kids. About a year ago, I read an article that said there had been 1,600 cars stolen and then burned in the city of Strasbourg alone. According to The Globe and Mail (Nov. 14, 2005, A9) the French police intelligence department RG has recorded 28,000 cars being burned in the LAST TEN MONTHS--650 for each week. Most of those cars were burned while the youth were off for the weekend.

In reality, these slum kids have been totally out of control for a long time. The deaths of the two youths by electrocution was simply an excuse for arson on a big time scale. The only real difference is that now schools, youth centers, and businesses have been targetted. For those of you old enough, try to remember the prophetic film, A Clockwork Orange, where psychopathic louts or drogues terrorized London, you will recognize these kids. The opening scene is in a narcotics-dispensing bar, which is popular with both the teenage gangsters and the effete socialist elite. Stanley Kubrick, the director, saw the connection between these monsters and their leftish apologists even back then. [An aside: I see the on-going slaughter of teachers and students in the school systems of North America has become a drum beat of this phenomenon of youthful anarchy on this side of the Atlantic.]

The fact that this European Muslim youth anarchy has reached The Netherlands and Belguim is a sign that unassimilated (cannot be assimilated?) cultures are time bombs that must be defused quickly. Rolling over in the face of wanton destruction is not one of the ways to accomplish this. Establish law and order; talk about "root causes" later.

Bud Talkinghorn

My Comments:

Bud, those termed "youths" can be 24 or 25 -- the age at which some Canadians had served in Europe in WWII for years, piloted planes, fought for their and our lives, and acted honourably. These? Sarkozy had the term for the rioters / arsonists / pyromaniacs / destroyers / those unable to be assimilated. The term is not intended for the poor decent ones who are struggling to live normally in the midst of the diabolical destructiveness of their fellows. Now, it is time for decent Muslims to denounce Islamists who use their religion to justify destruction and glorify evil because they value expressions of hatred and barbarism more than the ability to contribute positively to any society.

Throughout the Muslim world, some of the finest architecture is that of mosques, with a few modern buildings (towers -- hotels -- oil money ). Where are the inventions, the products of creativity, the evidence of a civilized mind today? It is time for the best of the Muslim world to encourage youth to value construction over destruction. Life over death. Sunshine over fire. Creating over destroying. Love of life over a jihadi explosion into "heaven"? Live women over houris? . . . What if houris don't exist? What if . . . ? NJC

PetroKazakhstan shareholders OK CNPC bid
Reuters, Updated: 2005-10-19 08:43

CALGARY, Alberta - PetroKazakhstan shareholders have overwhelmingly approved an offer by China's CNPC to buy the Canadian company for $4.2 billion, setting the stage for the deal to be completed after weeks of political wrangling and uncertainty. [. . . . ]

There is a photo of Bernard Isaultier here: "PetroKazakhstan chief executive Bernard Isautier smiles while being interviewed after shareholders' approval to sell the company to China State Oil at a meeting in Calgary October 18, 2005.[Reuters]"

As I recall, Isaultier has French and Canadian citizenship and advised someone or a department of the French government. There is mention of "Paris-based public relations firm". All small world department perhaps.

Another excerpt:

CNPC said on Monday it had managed to smooth over the rifts by agreeing to transfer a stake in PetroKazakhstan to state-controlled KazMunaiGaz in some 11th-hour diplomacy. The Kazakh government's Paris-based public relations firm said CNPC agreed to hand over 33 percent.

Politicking & Polling 101

To: MSM & LibPropOrg / CBC

There is an excellent article by Lorne Gunter (National Post, Nov. 14, 05, A14) on language used to stifle further discussion:

To keep from entering into contentious debates -- especially one they might lose -- far too many Canadian opinion leaderss and lawmakers will assert that this or that issue has been "settled," that there is virtually no debate about facts or solutions, therefore no more discussion is necessary.

20 Questions A Journalist Should Ask About Poll Results Third Edition, Sheldon R. Gawiser, Ph.D. and G. Evans Witt, NCPP / National Council on Public Polls

[. . . . ] Unscientific pseudo-polls . . . . include 900-number call-in polls, man-on-the-street surveys, many Internet polls, shopping mall polls, and even the classic toilet tissue poll featuring pictures of the candidates on each roll.

One major distinguishing difference between scientific and unscientific polls is who picks the respondents for the survey. In a scientific poll, the pollster identifies and seeks out the people to be interviewed. In an unscientific poll, the respondents usually "volunteer" their opinions, selecting themselves for the poll.

Does the testing and reporting of opinion in mainstream media smack of pseudo polling? Think of all the subtly insidious little ways the status quo politics for the status quo using "no further discussion".

Lack of recognition of the possibility of discussion passes for journalism? Hence, we get mindless repetition of PM "protecting health care" as we know it--failing--while he makes use of private health care. Mainstream media "journalists" do not challenge his version . . . nor his veracity.

This appears to be the same article--same wording--as above but not the part about the advertisements. Why?

MacDonald, Journalist, on the "doublespeak that Martin mouths"

Using his taxpayer-financed Challenger executive jet Nov. 13, 05

One of [Paul Martin's] photo-ops was to head with his spin doctors into the violence-plagued Jane-Finch area. He backed something he's spent years refusing to do: He and his Liberals "plan" to announce larger and mandatory sentences for those using a gun in committing a crime.

And then he and his merry band announced they'd be coming up with a quick-fix mini-budget tomorrow involving the tossing of more millions at government programs. That's to go along with a new announcement that they'll soon hand out multi-billion defence contracts -- via deals suspiciously connected to political favouritism. [. . . . ]

Yesterday, the Star revealed that lawyers who steal thousands — even millions — of dollars from clients rarely go to jail. Instead of being prosecuted in a criminal court, many lawyers get a lesser penalty from their professional association, the law society.

"It is amazing how the justice system will pursue an individual who had shoplifted a $20 DVD, but be so gentle with their own bad apples."

Opinion — Cotler too principled to remain a Liberal Tommy Schnurmacher, The Suburban, Nov. 13, 05

We will never see an audit of how much taxpayer money went to the Earnscliffe Group, Paul Martin’s favorite lobbying agency.

Irwin Cotler is much too honest for the Liberal Party of Canada.

He would be making a bold statement if he up and quit. And he wouldn’t even have to feel guilty about the Liberals losing the seat.
