Paul Martin this afternoon -- Oh, woe!

I listened to the Prime Minister's response to the three opposition parties proposal on an election after Christmas: here is a bit -- may have errors -- but the "Translation" is mine. NJC


PM: I "must be able to act for all Canadians" and "in their interest"

The proposal that was put forth by the opposition leaders is "untenable" . . . "You either govern or you don't."

Canadians "don't want an election" now. [How does PM know? He didn't ask me. I want an election. I will skate or slide there]

Paul Martin mentioned what Canadians will lose:

Tax cuts [ Translation: Desperation spending -- raise tax exemption, etc. ]

Energy costs -- rebate

Farmers -- ??? -- [a guess that it is $]

Soldiers -- pay raise [Translation: We planned to promise this if there is no vote of confidence.]

Ruined! -- or word with similar emotive effect -- legislation plans, projects, initiatives, investments -- [ Translation: -- not allowing him to pass his mini budget, not update -- Plans for shovelling your shiny tax dollars out the back of the Brinks trucks or from the Challenger jet -- Left unsaid is that these $$$ are accompanied by government announcements intended to buy your votes with your own money -- to keep PM & Team's Liberal Party--the party of corruption--in power]

He characterizes the opposition parties as talking "incessantly" about an election [Translation: The opposition don't want to make Parliament work -- After all, PM says it is a minority government -- Yet, the truth is PM has been hanging on by the skin of his teeth since he elbowed aside his predecessor. ]

Accuses the opposition parties of "gamesmanship" [ Translation: Let me make myself "clear" . . . "priorities" . . . "plans" . . . to schmooze and schmear the electorate Liberally. . . Some might suggest it is to buy votes? Perish the thought! ]

a campaign through Christmas [ Translation: That sacred time of the year to Christians -- a good number of whom he ignored with his SSM legislation -- newly discovered "rights" for homosexuals. -- Besides, the pork $$$ may not be approved before an election and Christmas! Oh, woe! Oh, woe is me! ]

This is "not the way it ought to be" -- [Translation: I might lose. Let me and my team maintain access to your tax $$$ -- more "initiatives" and "investments" ahead if you vote for me. I want to be Prime Minister. ]
