Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Men?

Well, the British have a hunch -- after they broke up the Anglo-Pakistani terrorist group in England. Besides the suspects picked up, there was the discovery of 1000 lbs of ammonium nitrate. Mixed with fuel and set off, it destroys buildings. It had been used by other bomb makers in Istanbul, East Africa and Oklahoma. Massive casualties is the end message. This, in a country that allows crazy Islamic fundamentalists to stand in Hyde Park and advocate the overthrow of their adopted country. They want to impose a Taliban mentality over Britain. It isn't going to happen, but they are fanatics, so don't waste your time trying to debate with them. England, like all the western democracies, is seen to be impure and evil. Democracy? Women's freedom? Religious tolerance? These are all the devil words of the infidel. They want to kill you for what you cherish. It is a war we cannot afford to lose.

Nearly signed off too quickly there. Just heard the news that in the Auditor-General's new report there are extremely nightmarish instances of security lapses. I would have thought that, after Sept. 11th, we would not have allowed 4,500 people with criminal associations to have access to the restricted areas of five airports. These people, who load the plane's hold or bring in the food, should have been double or triple checked for any hint of criminality. What is the point of two hour passenger checks, when the guy who is cleaning out the plane is planting a bomb? We have to get on the ball in this country or we will have big problems.

More Government Actions to Hobble You

There has been a shift by Canada's government into high gear when it comes to interfering in the lives of Canadians. Bill C-250, the gay anti-hate bill, that Svend Robinson got through on a private member's dispensation, will force the bill's opponents into a servile mode. Legitimate criticism of the gay lifestyle potentially will be criminalized. The government says that this will not affect religious dogma nor sermons on the subject. With our activist Supreme Court it will be insightful to see how long before that promise is broken. Don't you love it when gays protest that they have no agenda?

Mystery Woman tells me that the provincial government is considering demanding that building projects do an archeology study first -- in case there is a native artifact. You wouldn't want to be half way through a project and then discover an arrowhead or a burial pot fragment, would you? All this will add to the cost of the project, of course. Next, it will be the discovery that the hooded owl has to be protected. But then, what can we expect when a government spends a billion (and counting) on the useless gun registry? I know, I know; one is provincial, the other federal. It amounts to the same thing; there is only one taxpayer. Their economic attitude: Money? Heck, it's just paper and it's OPM*. If we run out, we will print up some more, or just raise taxes -- or maybe do both.

Terrorism and the Left

The National Post ran a column on the Left's refusal to take the terrorism threat seriously (April 1, A14). The authors, Koch and Weissenberger, trace the left's equal blind spot to the horrors of Stalin's communism. Millions were sent to Siberia, while millions were assassinated or simply staved to death, as in the Ukraine. Yet, the Left managed to overlook all these atrocities and praise the advancement of the masses. Russia was seen as a model for the world. The fact that the last holdout countries for this ideology are the likes of Cuba, North Korea, and other failed states does not register with them. Just tweak the ideology a bit, they say, and you could have a paradise -- such as China.

The truth, to me anyway, is that the Left is so isolated in its dogma that it has to have not just a large tent; but rather, a huge tent. In that tent resides an array of the world's worst terrorists. When their plots to massacre innocent people (any infidel will do) are interrupted by the police, they can count on the Western Left to rally to their defense. Even media coverage of the arrests is called "systemic racism". The multicult crowd comes out with the "further need for everybody, especially the police, to be more sensitive to cultural attitudes". Any coordinated effort to find and de-activate these terrorist cells is deemed a "witch-hunt". The Khadr family should have been a wake-up call for us. They were depicted as humanitarians. The Al-Queda camps they frequented were merely advanced summer camps -- learn explosives rather than archery.

CBC Morning had a representative on from the Ottawa Pakistani community, who demanded, basically, that we become more circumspect in viewing them as potential suspects. What the NDP and the other lefties call "racial profiling". How xenophobic of us to not target Anglo-Saxon Canadians in investigations! And what about those hotbeds of terror and sedition, the churches? These are the absurd lines of logic the fringe left wants us to buy into.

The most chilling part of the column was the idea that this sensitivity had spread to our gatekeepers. The authors examine the case of Ahmed Ressam. "CSIS wiretaps provided minute details about the Montreal militant cell that spawned Ahmed Ressam. Ressam and his pals made big plans. Intelligence agents simply jotted them down as the culturally diverse trash-talk of your typical Islamo-hoser. No action required." Well, when he was caught on his bombing mission, he admitted that his group had thought of bombing parts of Montreal to create chaos and massive casualties. We can never again be so complacent and culturally "sensitive".

Dyane Adam and Bilingualism: Yo No Comprendo

If you want to move into the big leagues of social engineering, you have to deal with Canada's failed bilingualism policy. Like the gun registry, it is a program that has had billions poured into it, but with the same dismal results. Why, even one of the headmistresses of the nanny state, Dyane Adam, has confirmed this failure.

Forget the little Jasons and Suzis, who went through French immersion and couldn't order a hamburger in that language five years later. Adam is talking about the civil service. $23 million spent on language training and they all sit around and talk English. Even the francophones conduct most of their work in English. The horror! Well, this has to stop, according to Adam and her department. The very idea that English should remain the dominant language is anathema to Adam and her cohorts. The fact that English is so concise, so brief, and so flexible is lost on Dyane. It is the language of world commerce. Even the former French colonies in Asia have switched to English as a second language.

The cost of this failed language policy is unknown. If pushed hard enough, the government comes up with some lowball figure. However studies have shown how untold millions flow through secret programs, or into the hands of the (French) lobby groups. Years ago I read that every document for the frigate program had to be translated into French at the cost of well over a hundred million ($100,000,000 plus). Meanwhile, the draconian language laws of Quebec go unchallenged by Dyane Adam's commission.

Janice Tibbettts reports on The National Post's Online web that there is a lobby effort afoot to have the next Supreme Court appointee be an aboriginal. The name being bandied about is Justice Harry LaForme, the judge who brought us gay marriage. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. Here we would have a Supreme that is both pro-gay and pro-Native/Indian. He would fit in nicely with Justice Basterache, whose expertise is on Acadian rights. A departed female Supreme was an ardent feminist who said, "If a woman thinks she is being sexually assaulted, by look or deed, then she was." Glad that idea didn't get written into law. No more, he said--she said--just she said. Period.

The leftish nonsense that will flow out of this court, if he gets appointed for that politically correct reason is the true horror. No, I take that back. The true horror will be the vast wastage of billions on special interest groups that invariably catch the Justices' ears. The government should follow Churchill's dictum: A young man who isn't of the left has no heart. An old man who is still on the left has no head."

Our Viliglant IRB

The National Post had a article about some Nigerian immigrant to Canada, who scammed the Ontario government for $18 million. Seems he ran a bunch of schools that had phantom students and staff. He would make false applications for student assistance. He would then pocket the phantom kid's tuition share and give the rest to the kid, who never showed up for class. Does nobody check these characters out? How did he get into the country? On what pretext was he deemed a good bet? You will not get the answers from the current IRB collection of political hacks and friends. The system has to be tightened up and quickly. The train bombings in Spain and the discovery of a powerful fertilizer bomb, along with many suspects (British Muslims) should be a clarion call to reform our lax admission policies. Our leaders seem to have forgotten that we are on Osama's list for retaliation. Meanwhile, our IRB is its usual sieve for bogus refugees and immigrants.

The Good Ship Gagliano Takes Another Torpedo

One of the latest witnesses at the sponsorship scandal commission, Norman Steinberg, is the chief auditor for Dept. of Public Works. He has proven Alfonso should have taken the Fifth. Steinberg refuted Gagliano's statement that he had asked about whether the police should be brought in. Also, more damaging still, is that he told Gagliano that the problem was serious and of a managerial nature--not of an administrative nature. Then, supposedly, Mr. Gagliano never even bothered reading the 18 page audit comments. Paul Martin has hung on to the same lifeboat as Alfonso--that it is simply an administrative problem. Methinks that the next torpedo might be reserved for the Good Ship Martin (Barbadian registry).
