The Witnesses in the Sponsorship Probe--"weasel words redefined"

"I don't remember" is the court of last resort, when all the other bafflegab doesn't work. Monday on CBC we had Group Everest's Mr. Boulay contradicting Pierre Tremblay's testimony. Two of the three key "management" witnesses that were supposed to show up didn't. Whether Chuck Guite is finally going to show up on Thursday, if he can leave his Arizona vacation was up in the air. [He did.] In the U.S. if they didn't show up for such a committee meeting they would be held in contempt. As if these problems were not bad enough, Paul Martin has stacked the committee with obstructing Liberal members. Every time the questioning got too close to the truth, the Liberals would accuse the opposition members of posing vague questions, or barring that, start bringing in "points of order" to run out the clock on the questioning. The entire inquiry is turned into a farce. Martin's promise to "get to the bottom of this scandal" is the height of mendaciousness. Pardon my French but that promise is pure b*******.
