Quick Links and Warning to Bloggers

Re-posted; new posts below

Warning to bloggers

Jan. 27 I found that someone had been into my old blog site, News Junkie Canada on Jan. 26. I did not open it but I found the next morning that it had been opened and updated with the Jan. 26 date. How very expected. In the East there has been a tendency toward control; nothing appears to be sacred. Need I say more? I do not know who was into my NJC blog site(s) but I do know that it wasn't me and I can make a guess, based on questions I have been asked lately. Jan. 26, I could not open Frost Hits the Rhubarb for hours. Obviously, someone else could. Jan. 27, I found their spoor. It will take a long time in the wilderness to cleanse these guys. May hackers and worms find them.

What is the answer? Perhaps a blogsite in the US. Certainly, no-one's privacy is observed in the East.

Incidentally, do try to find out the student vote results for your riding.

Letters and comments:

Thanks to those who write. If you do not receive a reply, it is because the program indicates that your comments came from a spoofed address. This may or may not be correct, but, given the hackers and attempted incursions, along with the problems of the past with these, I choose not to respond if the email program indicates the address is spoofed. I have had hackers with spoofed addresses, intrusions to add to the one(s) who entered this site Jan. 26.

I love the complimentary comments. Thanks, since this has been less vanity press than a labour of necessity, given what I have seen happening. As for those who write things like "this site sucks" without any indication of what exactly the writer takes issue with, no, I won't post these. Make legitimate criticisms and I probably will. Also, if I make errors I try to correct them; however, a correction months later is not adequate, I realize, if you comment on an old post from months ago. For those who tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, fine, but be specific or you won't be taken seriously, nor will I post your comments. I try to link people to where I have found what concerns me. The comments are pure me and I'm not likely to change much so just go elsewhere.

A few years ago, I set out to explore and to warn after I learned a few things which I considered to be of importance to Canada and to Canadians, news about which I was appalled. My exploration has gone on for more than four years and in the last few I have blogged. I have made mistakes when I was overtired or skimming information too quickly, or I was just plain stupid on a bad day but, in my defence, I have at least tried to explore and to learn -- to correct or to add updates. I prefer dialogue, but that has been sorely missing in Canada. Unfortunately, because of advertising bots, it is impossible to leave comments open; yet that would be so much more satisfactory if others could add reasoned, logical information or a new perspective. If you have anything to add, please do so in the comments.

Update: I have just heard of more election shenanigans. No proof and no links as yet, simply tales of people who feel this is the case, given how they and their acquaintances voted. But didn't y0u instinctively think this? The cynic in me did.

"In fact, the Montreal business community from which Mr. Mulroney received much support isn't too sure yet how to handle Mr. Harper. According to one source, they are at a loss to understand how the 10 newly elected Conservatives, all of whom are from outside the Montreal region, were able to win without their financial clout.

Terrorist nuclear bids concern leaders at forum -- Bono touts Red sales scheme Jan. 26, 06

[....] "We know that terrorists are highly sophisticated and are interested in acquiring nuclear weapons," said Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the United Nations' nuclear watchdog agency. [....]

[....] Suspicions Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons were a source of concern. ElBaradei said a Russian offer to move Iran's uranium-enrichment program to Russia could help find a solution to the standoff.

ElBaradei said he was also encouraged all parties were still talking about a diplomatic solution to meet western demands for assurances Iran's nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

[....] U.S. trade chief Rob Portman, who is meeting with other trade ministers in Davos, said he was encouraged by ....

But wasn't El Baradei instrumental in preventing any UN action, sanctions, against Iran? Lately, I posted something on his keeping this situation away from the Security Council, as I remember it, and hence, there would not be UN sanctions. (as there was supposed to be against Saddam Hussein) (check)

Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade Nathan Tabor, Jan. 27, 2006

It is a starting point for discussion, at least, that "all human life has value". The topic is important for the individual to consider, to clarify one's personal views. I am not suggesting it be brought before Parliament, simply that we consider and try to be logical for ourselves. I have considered and I'm afraid I am as illogical about it as are others with whom I speak, and I wax and wane, as well, depending upon the horrors of the situation (e.g. gang rape, pregnant 12 year old, etc.).

[....] Our knowledge of viruses tells us that large, intensive livestock facilities are the perfect breeding ground for the emergence of highly-pathogenic, virulent strains: they house large numbers of birds in close quarters whose immune systems have been compromised by stress, poor living conditions, and feeds medicated with hormones and antibiotics.
