Update #5: News--Breaking & Brief -- Political Correctness Dying . . .

"as we speak", Hedy.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get to the work I promised myself I would do today . . . but news intervened and I'm a news junkie at heart. What is the German term for late picking (spaetlese or something like that?) -- That's the story of my work. The wildlife critters won today but . . . maybe tomorrow I'll catch up to their picking of all the ripest fruit available. Best wishes for a weekend free of terrorists and worries. NJC

Update 5:

The American Islamic Leaders' "Fatwa" is Bogus Steven Emerson, The Investigative Project on Terrorism

[. . . . ] Nowhere does it condemn the Islamic extremism ideology that has spawned Islamic terrorism. It does not renounce nor even acknowledge the existence of an Islamic jihadist culture that has permeated mosques and young Muslims around the world. It does not [. . . . ]

Discourages dissimulation, but it is not fool proof, remember.

What they all agree on is that it has nothing to do with Islam.

Muslim savages and liberal idiots -- what a combination!

You have to love Al Gordon's subtle assessment.

Distinguishing between Muslim Friend and Islamist Foe

[. . . . ] Already in Canada, we have Mohammed Elmasry, President of the Canadian Islamic Congress and frequent contributor to the Globe and Mail, publicly justifying the killing of all Israelis over the age of 18. We have Sheik Younus Kathrada, the influential leader of a Vancouver mosque, calling Jews "the brothers of monkeys and swine" and exhorting his congregants to die as martyrs killing infidels. It was exactly this hate-mongering that inspired native-born British Muslims to slaughter innocent Britons.

In light of the current statements from the leaders of Canadian mosques condemning the Islamic terrorist attacks in London, politicians and the media have an obligation to look beyond the carefully crafted words and apply a test to see if these statements are as they appear, or if they are diversionary sophistry that serves a very different agenda. Unless we know friend from foe, we will lose this war and the price will be a blood-soaked future for our children. [. . . . ]

There is much more.

French "Honour" . . . . .

The Daily Gleaner, July 29, 05, as reported by Thomas Axworthy, principal secretary to Pierre Trudeau

French spies tried to foment discontent in Canada

Winnipeg -- The French secret service had agents in Canada 35 years ago trying to undermine the government and funneling money to separatists, the principal secretary to former prime minister Pierre Trudeau said this week.

"From 1967 to 1971, Freance had an active secret service campaign to undermine the government of Canada," Tim Axworthy told a lecture series on Canadian foreign policy at the University of Winnipeg.

The French government was funneling money to separatist groups in Quebec in the final years of Charles de Gaulle's presidency, Axworthy said. [. . . . ]

The French operated in Manitoba and New Brunswick. Check the connections to France of ministers in the Paul Martin government. Why are we just learning about this now? Years ago, the growing dissension was evident. As Canadians were voluntarily inching toward more and more bilingualism and friendly relationships, something went wrong and there was a change of attitude.

PM meets prominent Canadian Islamic leaders CTV.ca News Staff

Naresh Raghubeer of the Canadian Coalition for Democracy said he believed that such criticism of CSIS at this time is off-track.

Raghubeer said he believes CSIS and mainstream Muslims are not doing enough, together, to head off the possibility of terrorist activity in Canada.

Raghuber went on to allege that members of some of the groups that met with Martin preached hatred, and their leaders don't do enough to condemn such comments. "So we need to be asking some serious questions before we meet these people."

Tarek Fatah of the Muslim Canadian Congress also took exception to the meeting, saying that restricting participation to religious leaders was an error.

"This is diminishing our entire community to look as though there are 18 imams, and that's who represents us,'' Fatah said. "It's giving credibility to the very people who liberal and progressive Muslims are fighting.'' [. . . . ]

The Myth of Hitler's Pope: How Pope Pius XII Rescued Jews from the Nazis (Hardcover)

by David G. Dalin -- Documented Refutation of Slanders Against Pius XII, July 22, 2005 Reviewer: Oswald Sobrino "CatholicAnalysis.blogspot.com" (USA)

Rabbi Dalin is a credible source both because of his Jewish identity and because of his academic credentials which include a doctorate from Brandeis University. He refutes in page after page of documented facts the great and repeated lie that Pope Pius XII was sympathetic to the Nazis. The truth that emerges [. . . . ]

I am relieved to read this simply because the lie has been promulgated so often that I am sure it shook the faith of some. We need all the good news we can get about our leaders -- religious or otherwise.

[. . . . ] 5. Forty-one percent think that most Muslims would be reluctant to tell the police about anything suspicious.

In reply to almost all of the questions, moreover, quite large percentages give the answer "don't know" -- 11%, for instance, don't know whether they would seek to bring Western society to an end, and if so whether they would do so "by violence."

We should probably add some of their numbers to the percentages of those giving the most hostile and threatening replies.

So the overall picture is very disturbing, indeed: [. . . . ]

Update 1:

Martin’s meeting with imams — nothing more than a pr exercise -- "If Paul Martin was truly interested in fighting terrorism he would demand;"

The entire purpose of this dialogue was nothing more than an attempt to get CSIS to back off investigating and monitoring any Muslims for possible terrorist ties or activities.

Paul Martin is too desperate to gain votes to demand anything.

Aly Hindy was not invited and he's piqued. . . That's the same Aly Hindy, the subject of this: Imam warns Ottawa to back off Muslims and then, there is "Re: Elmasry's fatwa": Mohammed Elmasry: "Muslims told to integrate politically" -- "You have to vote. Voting counts." -- Will voting Liberal ensure no politically incorrect questioning by CSIS about sleeper cells or associations or suspect individuals that might disturb Muslims? No suggestion that Muslims should be co-operating with CSIS without urging? James Rusk, CIC, July 23, 05 posted by Al Gordon of whom Gordon writes:

Mohammed Elmasry, president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, has another message for Canadian Muslims. We all remember his last message delivered on Michael Coren's television show stating that all Israelis over the age of 18 were legitimate targets for for suicide bombers. But Elamsry is a clever fellow, and realizes that, however wonderful and effective indiscriminate slaughter is in advancing the Islamist agenda, it also helps to have the Liberals government in your back pocket. One could argue that his threat of terrorism is simply the other side of the Islamist coin -- a complement to selling your vote to the Liberals in exchange for not interfering in the killing of israelis and providing moral cover for Islamic atrocities.

Europe on 30,000 dead a day * by Bob Friedland, Posted by HenryW on 13:59:28 2005/07/25

*The title of this article "Europe on 30,000 dead a day" refers to the number of daily deaths resulting from World War II, 1939 - 1945.

We are asked to believe that somehow, Europe has gotten it right, about just about everything. And that, conversely, the United States has gotten it wrong about just about everything.

You name it. About Iraq. About Israel. About North Korea. About everything from irradiated Frankenfood to Kyoto carbon credits.

Well, I remain a skeptic about Europe's ability to get it right. Remember, these are the same fine folk who brought you [. . . . ]

DUBAI -- The world of Islam is on fire . . . .

The only accomplishment of jihadis is that now they have aroused the great "Western Tiger". There was a time when the United States and Europe welcomed Arab and Muslim immigrants, visitors and students, with open arms. London even allowed all dissidents escaping their countries to preach against those countries under the guise of political refugees.

Well, that is all over now. Time has become for the big Western vengeance. [. . . . ]

EDITORIAL: On crime, community and colour July 28, 05

Yes, but .... nothing is ever going to change unless politicians like Miller and his politically correct followers admit the real problem -- that urban street crime, gangland shootings and executions on our streets, some in broad daylight, are mostly the work of young, black, violent, disenfranchised men.

And that better handgun registration, either here or south of the border, isn't going to help. [. . . . ]

But for too long now, the politically correct talk in Toronto has been that it's racist to talk about crime and colour.
