Former Trudeau cabinet minister Monique Begin from Quebec a leading G-G candidate -- another lefty? No-one out of the West for GG? -- I jest.

With Adrienne Clarkson we got an Ontario and CBC francophile and a woman; now, a francophone and a woman. No wonder the West feels left out of Canada. I suspect this will not be tolerated much longer.
Compare Responses to Terrorism: France vs Canada
France: "strip undesirables of their adopted nationality"
France set to expel Islamist extremists -- Anti-terror package Colin Randall, Telegraph, July 30, 05
PARIS - The gulf between British and French treatment of preachers of hatred and violence was thrown sharply into focus yesterday when France announced the summary expulsion of a dozen Islamists between now and the end of August.
[. . . . ] Mr. Sarkozy said he will reactivate measures, "already available in our penal code but simply not used,"to strip undesirables of their adopted nationality.
Canadian "Neutrality" in the face of Islamist terrorism
The NGO's join Carolyn Parrish. I believe I have read, by the way, that her area has many Muslims so may we chalk her comments up to a self-serving bid for Muslim votes? PM must approve of that; perhaps she'll get a cabinet position yet, if she can just keep from slagging Paul. That is the key. Suck up, Carolyn.
Judi McLeod: NGOs distance themselves from Canadian troops in Afghanistan July 29, 2005
[. . . . ] Canada’s NGOs traditionally work in partnership with CIDA for development work overseas.
CIDA was founded by Maurice Strong, Martin’s mentor and pointman for UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Strong thus far has been silent on the neutrality laments of his favourite NGO.
The NGO set even worries that "appearing to be on the side of Canadian troops" will make them "a potential target for enemy fire". [. . . . ]

And our weak PM had to consult with the imams before he could say anything -- wouldn't want to lose those votes. Paul Martin is scary; there seems to be no core of decency and strength for Canada. Just desperation.
Mounties take to the water to deter terrorism -- St. Lawrence Marine Unit Alex Dobrota, CanWest, July 30, 05
[. . . . ] The RCMP asks residents who live on the shore of the St. Lawrence River to watch for water crafts that: operate outside normal fishing/shipping lanes; operate outside normal fishing seasons; run at night without lights; travel to or from a source country and do not carry the appropriate equipment for their work; appear to be beyond the owner's means; have a large cargo capacity; unload cargo in unusual or isolated areas; or have unusual or suspicious encounters with other boats.
'Batley man' linked to bin Laden and bombers Tony Harney, Leeds Today, July 29, 05
A BRITISH intelligence team in Zambia is today questioning a West Yorkshire man said to have been a personal body guard to Osama bin Laden and to have master-minded the London July 7 bombings.
Haroon Rashid Aswat, believed to have lived in Batley for 20 years and who has been linked to radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, is reported to have flown out of Heathrow just hours before 56 people were killed and hundreds injured when blasts wrecked three tube trains and a London bus.
Aswat, who is understood to have left Batley 10 years ago, is said to have entered the UK by ferry a fortnight before the first wave of bombings.

Canada has responsibility to combat terrorism: PM -- Did he check with the imams on the wording? Greg Bonnell
"Imams bear great responsibility" for what has transpired.
Imams' statement a belated step forward Salim Mansur, Toronto Sun, July 30, 05
[. . . . ] In many cases, [imams] condoned the kind of politics which bin Laden patented into an ideology of Muslim terror.
Some mosques in Canada, as in Britain and elsewhere, have provided a haven for the ideology of political Islam to be nurtured, extolled and proselytized.
For more than 30 years in Canada, I was not the only one who listened during Friday prayers to Imams intemperately preaching bigoted sermons laced with anti-Semitism. [. . . . ]
Re: Accused Terrorist Wrote School Guidelines with ACLU -- It might be a good idea to take a closer look at "multicultural" school materials...J -- Accused Terrorist Wrote School Guidelines with ACLU by JenT Shroder
Abdurahman Alamoudi, President of the American Muslim Council, supporter of Hamas, Hezbollah and accused of ties with Osama bin Laden, helped develop "Religious Expression in Public School" with the ACLU which holds the copyright. Launched by Clinton in 1995, these "Presidential Guidelines" greatly impact public schools today. Nadine Strossen, President of the ACLU, refers to these guidelines as the authority to support the ACLU's lawsuits restricting Christmas celebrations and removing Nativity scenes from public schools.
[. . . . ] Alamoudi met often with then President and Hillary Clinton and has been described as Hillary's friend and advisor on Islamic affairs. Protected by Clinton's Presidential Guidelines, funding for Islamic educational materials began pouring in from Saudi Arabia and Muslim nations.
[. . . . ] As terrorists executed attacks on America, then President Clinton slashed our defenses, gutted our intelligence, pardoned terrorists, halted investigations of Islamic charities and negotiated for peace, evidently with a powerful bargaining chip, our children through our public education system.
Maybe Bill Clinton should have stuck to womanizing? . . . considering the implications to security, not ethics.
Is it not time for Christians to take back their world? Not all in North America are unbelievers; the country was set up with Judeo-Christian underpinnings. It is not Christians (nor Jews) who are terrorizing the world.

How can ANY country authorize a SINGLE terrorist organization to live and grow in itself. This in itself is an aberration. How can any one with a sound mind reconcile with this absurdity. [. . . . ]
ALL observant Suuni and Shia Muslims are extremists Posted by Yashiko Sagamori on 08:06:07 2005/07/30 -- The Mythical Muslim Extremist by Yashiko Sagamori
[. . . . ] An Islamic scholar, responding to questions regarding the recent terrorist acts in London, explained that Islam does not distinguish between unarmed civilians and armed soldiers. The only meaningful distinction in Islam is between Muslims and infidels. He wasn't talking about Sunni Islam, or Shia Islam, or moderate Islam, or extreme Islam. He was talking about the only Islam there is. None of the commonly recognized Islamic authorities found it necessary to correct him. If you want my personal opinion, when it comes to real Islam, not the "religion of peace" invented by Jewish and Christian liberals to accommodate their suicidal social theories, I trust Islamic scholars more than our own experts and politicians. While the latter mumble something unbelievably sweet about "moderate Muslims", Muslims, who are neither moderate nor extremist, but simply observant, honestly tell us that their goal is to conquer us. I see no reason whatsoever to doubt their genocidal intentions or their ability to follow up on them. Just look what they have already achieved in Europe. We are still behind, but we are moving in the same direction.
And this brings me to this very important point. If we want to survive as a civilization, we must learn to classify Muslims not as moderate and extremist, because such distinctions only exist in our imagination; not as Sunni and Shia, because both are our mortal enemies determined to exterminate us before they go for each other's throats; but simply as observant and non-observant.
