Hewlett-Packard's decision to hire investigators who assumed fake identities in order to obtain personal records has blown up in the company's face. The ensuing scandal has generated resignations, possible indictments and now a congressional hearing.
[....] Instead of a scoop, the e-mail contained an attachment with an embedded tracking program. ... a keystroke logger. As the name implies, the program not only tracks e-mail but records key strokes and screenshots, lifting everything from confidential documents to banking passwords.
Unlike pretexting, keystroke loggers are widely used. Commercial keystroke loggers .... KeyKatcher, KeyGhost and Keylogger .... Security consultants speculate that government agencies use keystroke logging to monitor potential criminal activity. About 7% of computers have keystroke loggers, whether they know it or not, according to research by antivirus company WebRoot Software, Inc. [....]

Canadians should read this very carefully.
Consider whether you recognize anything similar happening here in Canada ... The method works for just about any issue ...
al Qaeda's "Working Paper for a Media Invasion of America" - the Media Responds , via newsbeat1 -- worth reading, Greyhawk, October 20, 2006

I really didn't expect to see the American media even acknowledge the existence of al Qaeda's "Working Paper for a Media Invasion of America", much less to see them openly embrace it. They've done both. [....]
“The people of jihad need to carry out a media war that is parallel to the military war and exert all possible efforts to wage it successfully. This is because we can observe the effect that the media have on nations to make them either support or reject an issue.” [....]
Will they need to be evacuated?

TORONTO - A Somali-Canadian businessman is a "key player" in an emerging armed Islamic group that some describe as Africa's Taliban, sources have told the National Post.
Former Toronto resident Abdullahi Ali Afrah, who goes by the nickname Aspro, holds a senior position in the consultative council of Somalia's hardline Islamic Courts Union.
... Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys ... terror group Al-Ittihad Al-Islam (AIAI).
Mr. Ali Afrah is one of several members of the Toronto and Ottawa Somali-Canadian communities who have reportedly returned to their homeland and joined the Islamic Courts, either in leadership and support roles or as fighters in armed militias.

Over and over again, investigators examining the Al Qaeda terrorist network point to a common thread -- the ease with which many in the network travel the world using fake passports or illegally obtained immigration documents.
Ahmed Ressam, the focus of this FRONTLINE report, was somewhat of an expert in fake passports. He used a counterfeit French passport to enter Canada and apply for political asylum. While living there, he supplied fake Canadian passports to other Algerians. And he used a fake Canadian passport under the alias of Benni Noris in his failed attempt to enter the United States and bomb Los Angeles International Airport. [....]

Canadian on U.S. terror list Sheldon Alberts, CanWest, Friday, July 21, 2006
WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration on Thursday named a Canadian citizen with high-level ties to al Qaida, Abousofian Abdelrazik, as a "specially designated global terrorist" and launched action to seize his U.S. financial assets.
Abdelrazik, who also holds Sudanese citizenship, "is known to have been a member of an extremist cell in Montreal" and had close associations with Ahmed Ressam, the convicted millennium bomber, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement.
[....] CSIS also identifies Abdelrazik as a close associate of Odil Charkoui, a landed immigrant from Morocco who was arrested on a federal security certificate in 2003 and is now facing deportation from Canada. [....]

BRUSSELS, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Turf conscious bloggers in Paris' rundown, mostly Muslim, suburban immigrant housing estates rival in violent messages that threaten to beat senseless and even kill any intruder caught in "our ghetto." .... An average of 14 policemen a day are injured in bloody clashes with jobless youngsters.
France's Interior Ministry said 2,500 police officers had been "wounded" this year. ..."intifada." .... stones and "Molotov cocktails" (gasoline-filled bottles with burning wicks that explode on impact) .... "free fire zones" ... armored vehicles. Entire tall buildings empty into the streets to chase policemen and free an arrested comrade.
"We are in a state of civil war, orchestrated by radical Islamists," Thooris told journalists. Sarkozy, the leading center-right candidate for next year's presidential election, responded by dispatching cops in body armor, equipped with automatic weapons and rubber bullets, stun and teargas grenades into several Paris suburbs with orders to "restore control" from "organized crime." In one recent clash 250 cops dispersed a 100-strong Muslim gang armed with baseball bats.

[....] The metropolitan Paris police tabulated 10 to 12 anti-Jewish incidents per day in the past 30 days throughout the country.
The number one best selling book in France is "September 11: The Frightening Fraud," .... Neither multiculturalism nor integration of Muslim communities seems to be working anywhere in Europe. Moderate Muslim voices cannot rise above radical hubbub.
The French far left has also gone fishing in these troubled Islamic waters. One new leftist political star is Dieudonne M'Bala M'Bala, a hugely popular black comedian who appears to be a Gallic Louis Farrakhan. He dismisses civic educational programs about the Holocaust as "memory pornography." He was recently fined 5,000 Euros for comparing Jews to slave-traders. In a television sketch, he gave a Nazi salute while dressed as an orthodox Jew to denounce what he saw as "fascist Israeli policies."

Dieudonne's humor is black -- and dangerous.
