[....] Mr. Chand informed his superior that he had to wear a beard because he was Muslim. The sergeant was taken aback, telling the other man "that's interesting, I'm a Muslim and I don't have a beard. I don't understand. Who's telling you this?"

They had three or four more encounters each time Mr. Chand showed up in uniform without shaving, with Mr. Imtiaz informing him he could make an internal grievance, or complain to the Human Rights Commission. The sergeant also suggested Mr. Chand bring an excerpt from the Koran or some other document to back up his claim, but he never did. The private did present a written complaint, said Mr. Imtiaz.

[.... The] forces make accommodation for religious needs whenever possible. The military's ranks include at least three Muslim women who wear the hijab in uniform, she noted. [....]

Great! He could have remained inside the tent ... bombing out ... a good boy who attended mosque.

Chand could have "complain[ed] to the Human Rights Commission" -- Why? What right does an appointed body have to interfere with military discipline? Oh, yes, women are allowed to wear hijab in our military ... Sikhs may wear turbans in the RCMP ... but the rest of us may not demand adherence to Canadian standards nor Canadian traditions, little traditions like loyalty to our country ... you know, like becoming Canadian, not trying to bring their worst traditions here and trying to change our culture.

Needless to say, if I entered any Muslim culture, I would be fitted out with a burqa or hijab ... then probably stoned alive ... for just being me ... for stating what I think ... Of course, I don't have to worry about any of those males wanting me to do his housekeeping ... thank the Gods for small blessings ... and being born in the West. When do the newcomers join in our culture?
