Two Canadian soldiers, one of them a Montreal-based reservist from the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, were killed in Afghanistan yesterday when their battle-weary convoy was hit by the first of two suicide bombings near Kandahar.

Cpl. Jason Patrick Warren, 29, and Cpl. Francisco Gomez, 44, of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton, died in the attack. Eight other Canadian soldiers were wounded. [....]
