It is time the Muslim world took a reality check

I was watching CNN and saw on the "news crawl" that hundreds of British Muslims were protesting outside the U.S. Embassy. They were carrying signs calling for the death of Bush and the destruction of America by nuclear attack. This fanatical reaction was to a bogus claim that one Gitmo interrogator desecrated a Koran. Now these same protestors and their world-wide sympathizers, remain completely unmoved by the genocidal slaughter of their Muslim brothers in Darfur, Iraq and Pakistan. Where is the call to assassinate Sudan's president? As for Abu Ghraib and that scandal, they seem to forget that it was done by a few sadistic guards, who were duly brought to justice. Perhaps the Muslim outrage would be better directed to what went on in that prison when Saddam and his henchmen ran it. According to Amnesty International, thousands of prisoners were tortured in a manner that defies imagination. Thousands more were killed--often on the sole whim of a warder. In one episode, prisoners' hands were cut off and the deed videotaped for further amusement later.

The "outrage" about sacred books or places being desecrated obviously does not extend to any other religion. There has not been a murmur of disgust about the Jordanians using Joseph's Tomb as a latrine, the Iranians bulldozing dozens of Baha'i temples, or the bombing of Christian churches in Iraq and Indonesia. In fact, they even seem emotionally immune to how many Korans (some still in the hands of believers) were blown to smithereens in mosques by their fanatical brethren. The al-Queda desire to foment a savage civil war between the Iraqi Sunnis and the Shi'ites shows how nihilistic their beliefs have become. Truly, they have become a cult of death and if mainstream Muslims accept their methods, then they have effectively joined that cult. To save what Muslims claim is the true meaning of the faith, the moderates must speak out forcefully. The outrage in the Christian world if such barbarities were enacted in Christ's name would be deafening. There has be a denial by Imams, or otherwise, even the anti-American leftists will have to re-examine their stance towards Islam. And like the Dutch, the West will have to severely curtain Islamic immigration, as the risk is simply too high to allow such intolerance to invade our cultures.

An update on that London Islamic protest. CTV showed them, about three hundred strong, shouting not only "Death to Bush and destroy America with nuclear bombs", but also "Kill Tony Blair". How Blair got targeted, since the Brits have nothing to do with Gitmo, is a mystery. The chilling point of this TV clip was the statement that while two crimes were being openly committed, i.e, incitement to murder and wearing a mask while committing an indictable crime, the cops did nothing. Has it come to this in England, that a bunch of raving fanatics can counsel assassinating the British Prime Minister, and the law cowers in the corner? The entire crowd of them should have been arrested and tried on felony charges. To complete this travesty of justice, one of the leaders was an al-Queda guy, whom the Blair government pressured the Americans into releasing from Gitmo. No good deed goes unpunished as they say.

Is this sheer coincidence?

Everybody knows that John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham. But do you know about the star-crossed relationship between the Lincolns and the Booths? Sarah Vowell, an American PBS broadcaster, has written Assassination Vacation, which shows the freaky coincisences of these families. For instance, while John Booth killed Lincohn, John's older brother, Edwin saved Lincohn's son, Robert Todd, when he fell onto the train tracks in New Jersey. While visiting a New York home, Edwin was drawn to a bronze cast of two hands. The host said they were of Abraham Lincohn. Then the day of Edwin Booth's funeral, three floors of the Ford Theatre, where Lincohn was killed, collapsed and killed 22 federal employees. The theatre had been turned into a government office.

Other tidbits revealed that Robert Todd had his mother sent to an insane asylum, and that the wife of another assassinated President, McKInley, spent the rest of her life in a rocking chair, crocheting 4,000 pairs of slippers.
