The court-appointed receiver of collapsed hedge-fund firm Portus Alternative Asset Management Inc. has referred the matter to the RCMP, a source close to the probe said.

A criminal investigation would mark an escalation of what has so far been a regulatory probe focused on sales practices and compliance at Toronto-based Portus. The firm has been in receivership under KPMG Inc. since March.

While it is still unclear which division of the Mounties will handle the case, it is understood the RCMP's Integrated Market Enforcement Teams, or IMETs, may not be taking the lead because of an already heavy workload. But the RCMP has other branches that can handle the investigation, the source said.


Meanwhile, Portus co-founder Boaz Manor has indicated he would be willing to pay for a trip to Israel by a KPMG team to come and interview him about his company's dealings. [. . . . ]

Adscam is not isolated but part of a pattern of systemic corruption in Ottawa

For instance, another inquiry should be held into the disappearance and defrauding of taxpayers of $1-billion in Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDC) grants -- a program which overlapped the Adscam shenanigans and was buried by the Liberals. HRDC grants were vetted by Liberal party officials and riding execs rather than by arm's-length civil servants.


Sure let's give the Liberals more time to waste money, grease the palms of their friends and cronies and bamboozle the public once again....Here are the words of a respected U of T academic, Andy Stark, writing in Macleans...saying that the country has suffered "the total breakdown of moral, legal and institutional boundaries....on a scale that resembles the worst kind of corruption you'd find in a developing country."

So the Liberals have reduced the country to the status of a banana republic with the looming threat of break-up as a result of the Adscam crisis.....nah, lets not get hasty....lets give them another chance...after all, look what that evil, religious, extremist Stephen Harper might do to the country; Canadians have been so brainwashed by the media (read...Liberal-controlled media) that they honestly fear what they do not even know.....my!, but the Liberals are good at what they do, especially when they have no moral compass to guide them or place limits on them.
