George Jonas: Hello, Dr. Mahathir. Goodbye Herr Zundel -- a reasoned article

Marvin Kurz is a busy lawyer. His response to a column I wrote about Ernst Zundel's deportation last week makes me suspect that whoever did the summary of my piece for him won't be getting a bonus. B'nai Brith's legal counsel must have been told that I complain about the federal government misusing -- to quote his column -- "security legislation meant to combat terrorism as a means to persecute a mere anti-Semitic hatemonger." Had Mr. Kurz read my piece himself, I expect he would have noticed that what I complain about is Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).

Paul Palango: Reforming the RCMP -- a must read

"Paul Palango is author of The Last Guardians, the Crisis in the RCMP and in Canada, and Above the Law, the Crooks, the Politicians, the RCMP and Rod Stamler. He resides in Chester Basin, N.S."

Colby Cosh: What they died for -- a good article

I doubt we have enough Mounties to make Moose Jaw drug-free, let alone the whole country. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized there was something more fundamentally disturbing about Commissioner Zaccardelli's message than its mere factual status. He seemed to be saying, after all, that the sacrifice of four young men's lives on these terms was regrettable, but justifiable and noble. With respect to the demands that that moment placed upon him, I think the whole idea is offensive. [. . . . ]

Charges raise spectre of VLT cheating -- I have lost the exact link so check the list of headlines. This will be an article of interest to those who abhor the increase in VLT's and gambling in Canada. Is there more of this? In Canada?
