Bud Talkinghorn: I hope Andrew Coyne is wrong about the Conservative Policy Convention

Coyne is making the charge that the Conservatives have sold out (The National Post, Mar. 23, 2005). My fear is that it has. Message to Harper: The left and the central-left are bunkbedded already. It is time to tap into that residual anger that accompanies each new destruction of what made this country great. True, the national appetite for financial gain and consumerism have blinkered the populace from the long range consequences of many Liberal social policies. However, there are some issues that must be rationalized honesly.

I was talking to an old buddy from California about the Liberal idea of a national day care system. He reminded me of how the Communist satellite state he had escaped from used their "national daycare center". It was a pure ideological exercise. He reminded me of the old adage: "As the Jesuits used to say, 'Give me a child unto age seven and we have him forever.' " The liberals have done such a fine job at the post-secondary level, how could they fail with unformed minds? Those are the sorts of sentiments that resonate with me. That they would with millions more, if explained carefully, is beyond doubt. Harper has taken the first step on this topic, but he needs to go further in convincing people that there are hazards with government involved in daycare, hazards beyond economics.

The entire future immigration and refugee policy was never properly addressed. Today's National Post mentioned that Islamic immigrants are slowly, but surely becoming the largest faith in Canada. The Danish are so alarmed about their exploding Muslim population that signs have sprouted that show the consequences. One is of a beautiful, blond, Nordic girl. The caption underneath says: "By 2050, she will be a minority." The same demographic fate awaits us, if we lose sight of what Canada stands for, freedom and democracy. The Liberals, as usual, have lost any foresight as to the ramifications of unbridled Muslim immigration. The ultra-tolerant Netherlands has finally awakened from their liberal dreams and recognized that their Muslims are not intergrating into Western culture. In fact, in many cases they have become implacable enemies of Netherlands culture. The most fanatical despise Western culture; especially its attitude of gender equality. Their fantasy is of conquest to replace it. It is Rome allowing the barbarian Goths to move into their territory. Hello Ostragoths and Vandals--Yes, that is from the latter that we got the current name--and they despised civilization too. Well, we have to do a better job about keeping the "vandals" out of our country. Everything the liberal-left idolizes about unfettered immigration will be their death knell, but they are too blinded by their rigid ideologies to see it. They are the ultimate "useful fools". Under a theocracy they will be the first to the wall. How droll!
