Israel and Canada's Prime Minister Martin

It appears there was a BlogBurst on Israel that I missed. Too bad, as I much admire Israel. From next to nothing, Jews from varied cultures created a modern economy and democratic institutions. The Palestinians created nothing of worth in the same period. If they were to be given all of Israel they would, within a few decades, turn it into a giant Gaza Strip. And for compensation they could be ruled by the fundamentalists, who would bring them the joys of Taliban-style fun.

Canada's UN record on Israel is deplorable. Most of the time we have sided with the Arab bloc, which is composed of everything from dictatorships to lawless tribal areas to slave-holding states. Maybe Prime Minister Martin doesn't really understand the term "democratic deficit". Anyway, cheers to Israel. May it last forever.
