LTTE & Liberal Team -- Why? For votes, of course!

Tamil Tigers banned from EU, courted in Canada

[. . . . ] While the world is waking up to the threat of terrorism, this government allows Canada to remain the largest source of foreign funding for LTTE terror," said Alastair Gordon, President of the Canadian Coalition for Democracies. "The question is, why?"

In January, that question was put to Justice Minister Irwin Cotler, who said, "Toronto I think has the largest number of Tamils ... outside of Sri Lanka, so we've got to be very careful just in terms of our own relationships." Minister Cotler never explained the connection between the number of Tamil voters in Toronto and the murder of innocents in Sri Lanka.

In February, Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew contradicted his justice minister, saying, [. . . . ]

European Union Statement
C/05/248

Brussels, 27 September 2005
12669/05 (Presse 248)

Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union condemning the actions of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)

The European Union hereby declares its condemnation of the continuing use of violence and terrorism by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). The pursuit of political goals by such totally unacceptable methods only serves to damage the LTTE's standing and credibility as a negotiating partner and gravely endangers the Peace Process so much desired by the people of Sri Lanka.

"The policy of multiculturalism in Canada," Arjomand stated, "unfortunately has become another barrier for women's rights." Licia Corbella, Calgary Sun, Sept. 8, 05

"not a lick of common sense" Bill Narvey, Sept. 30, 05

Mr. Pettigrew has staunchly and very successfully defended against the forces of commons sense that have been trying to infiltrate his mind and his Foreign Office ever since his appointment.

Given that success, you could say that Mr. Pettigrew has proven himself a most capable Minister of Foreign Affairs who has faithfully followed and has never strayed from the same witless path as his predecessor, Mr. Graham. [. . . . ]

How civilized

The Silent Muslim Majority IS the Problem originally published in FrontPageMagazine, Jan. 7, 2005 Posted by Nonie Darwish on 20:11:54 2005/10/02

I am overwhelmed with sadness over the state of the Muslim world. I am looking at the photograph of an Iranian woman about to be stoned to death in Iran, buried to her waste in dirt to keep her from running away.

A few weeks ago, I read about a 14 year-old Iranian boy who died after receiving 85 lashes for the `sin' of eating in public in the month of Ramadan. Salah Uddin Choudhury has been in prison for one year in Bangladesh for the `crime' of urging his nation to recognize Israel and advocating interfaith dialogue among equals as well as warning against the growing power of Islamists in Bangladesh.

What are Muslim community activists in America doing about their homegrown brutal human rights violations? They are silent. [. . . . ]

Mark Steyn: Islamist way or no way -- "So, even in a great blinding flash of clarity, we can't wait to switch the lights off and go back to fumbling around on the darkling plain. Bali three years ago and Bali three days ago light up the sky: they make unavoidable the truth that Islamism is a classic "armed doctrine"; it exists to destroy." Mulroney's legacy

If the general ill-feeling towards Brian Mulroney because of Meech Lake wasn't enough, he now has Peter Newman to further skewer his legacy. From my perspective, Mulroney will go down in infamy for his "roll the dice" comment. That changing the balance of federalism to give Quebec a veto over constitutional affairs was some impulsive gamble said it all. His endless kowtowing to Quebec, which fathered the traitorous Bloc Quebecois, is a bitter irony. Still, when you lie down with dogs, you.... His positive accomplishments, e.g. NAFTA, will never wipe away his callous toying with the fate of Canada. That his rapacious desire to hold power would supercede his duty to hold Canada together is inexcusable. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the excerpts that gave Mulroney's snapshot characterizations of that dilettante Trudeau and others.

One of the main problem in the blogosphere is that people write lengthy articles about things they know squat about. I guess it is a symptom of a deeper problem. Why not stick to things you know for sure.

Your comment is venting, not adding useful facts or another enlightening perspective.

Next time, choose the particular item(s) with which you wish to take issue, point out your reasons for your own different perspective, and add to the sum of everyone's knowledge.

Change people's minds with reason, not with emotion. Reveal that you know more about whatever is bothering you; otherwise, your comments are wasted.
